A 37-year-old Toronto man has been charged after the Canada Border Services Agency found cocaine hidden in chocolate candies.
Border agents seized the first package on Dec. 17, 2013 and caught a second one on Jan. 2.
Officers said both parcels came from Colombia and were destined for Toronto, but didn’t reveal where they were intercepted.
The Toronto police drug squad launched an investigation and on Thursday, with the help of the CBSA, raided an apartment near Dufferin Street and Eglinton Avenue West and allegedly found more cocaine.
Jose Prado Carmona has been charged with five counts, including unlawfully importing drugs and possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.
He appeared at the Old City Hall courts on Friday morning.
